If you follow this blog, you probably know that I like to wax poetic. I get long winded. I say too much. My blog posts are usually TLDR. You might have thought that I have issues cutting sentences and paragraphs, but actually I just don’t have time to make my posts short and to the point. It takes me much longer to edit than it does to write.
The National Writing Project asked Mozilla Hive to collaborate with a number of awesome organizations on the National Day of Writing. We at Mozilla write a lot of things, plus we’re excited to be taking part in the conversations happening around the very definition of “literacy”. But this post isn’t actually about what we at Mozilla write, it’s about what I write.
In celebration of the National Day of Writing:
- I’m just going to go ahead and let everyone know, I LOVE to write. I have very seriously considered buying a cottage in some rainy countryside and becoming a reclusive writer.
- Last weekend, I finally got around to getting my thesis online.
- I learn more about writing with every word I read. I like to read.
- My first book weighs in at 474 pages (pocket size paperback) and isn’t available yet because I’m just not happy with it. It needs more work. However, the cover looks like this. And you can read my tortured artist rant about it here.
- Doug Belshaw showed me this excellent model and told me to just start publishing my stuff. The model is excellent, but I haven’t had time to format and export any eBooks. Therefore, as a hack, I’m posting the first two chapters of my 2nd book online and then waiting for anyone to care. It could be construed as gross though, so you might think about that before diving in. This book may or may not be about zombies.
So there you have it. #WhatIwrite.
Great that you’re putting stuff out there! I haven’t read anything more than the first few paragraphs yet (I’m packing before flying) but I like the style – kind of Jack Reacher-esque? Enough description not to get in the way of the action!
