Maybe I’m snogwoggler
I have a big list of cool ideas that I’ll probably never get around to. One of them is to start a podcast called “Everything is Derogatory”. I’d get a co-host and we would pontificate about all the stuff we shouldn’t say and pick apart why everything is derogatory if you just follow the breadcrumbs back to the explosion of bread. This week, I used the phrase “corporate snogwogglers” while ranting about the garbage fire that is LinkedIn. Helpfully, Dr Belshaw dug up a picture of a snogwoggler and the Brits on Mastodon claimed they didn’t invent it. Deepseek told me:
“The term “snogwoggler” is not recognized in standard English dictionaries and appears to be of obscure origin. It may derive from popular culture, possibly combining elements related to passionate kissing (“snog”) and playful or indecisive behavior (“woggle”). The term could imply someone who engages in flirtation or teasing while kissing but remains uncertain about commitment. Without specific context, the exact meaning is unclear, suggesting it might be a niche or fictional term from a particular community or media source.”
In any case, snogwoggler is absolutely derogatory, just like everything else. It has a good rhythm, that word, so I’m going to try not to forget that I like it as an insult. I also like “douche canoe”, which you should use in texts to (especially) men who are being douche canoes. Don’t forget the 🛶 emoji.
Another podcast idea is “Home Ownershit” where we would talk about all the adulting things you have to deal with when you’re an adult. Not just for homeowners, this podcast would help you articulate your frustrations on things like buying a mattress or cleaning a giant sheepskin rug that doesn’t fit in the washing machine. We would also cover vacuum cleaners, bird feeders and how to yell at children.
You want more? Well, a colleague/friend of mine built this amazing IChing App of Changes. The IChing app is actually crazy cool and intellectually valuable, but sometimes smart things lead to stupid ideas, as is the case here. Sometimes I use the IChing app for reflective purposes. I also sometimes read AITA (am I the asshole?) threads. We could build a custom LLM that eats all those AITA threads and make an app that lets people ask if they are, indeed, the asshole. Call it the AChing.
I have ideas for animated tattoo implants, couples headphones and, of course, my Coffee Quest game. All my ideas are obviously trademarked, patented and copyrighted because I’m a huge believer in making sure that information and art is locked down and only available to the massive corporate snogwogglers who have the money and power to steal them vis a vie their AI and data scrapping tools.
AI definitely can’t replace your crazy-ass human brain, don’t worry about it.

Maybe I’m snarky

Below I call Mark Zuckerberg a douche canoe 🛶 and I call someone else, whose name I didn’t bother to remember, a snogwoggler. This is not slander because it’s written, and I’ve learned that slander is spoken whereas libel requires publication. It’s not libel either because one of the conditions for a statement to be considered libel is falsehood. Given that neither of these dudes can prove that they are not a douche canoe 🛶 or a snogwoggler, I think it would be hard to prove a falsehood. Another condition for libel is that a statement must cause harm to someone’s reputation in the eyes of a reasonable person.
Are there reasonable people anymore? I don’t think I’m very reasonable, and I’m the most reasonable person I know. Anyway, I don’t see how anyone can cause harm to a billionaire’s reputation. It seems to me that being a billionaire is so heinous that their reputation cannot be harmed further than it already is. We can say whatever we want about billionaires.
The other guy believes that attention is “the only differentiator between winners and losers”, a snogwoggler of a statement if I ever heard one. This guy built an AI tool that helps you wait for your turn to talk and get better at pretending you know stuff you don’t know hack about. As if we didn’t have enough bullshitters in the world. Also, he apparently thinks Mark Zuckerberg is cool enough to imitate so… snogwoggler. My intent here is not to harm, another condition of libel, but to express sadness that moral integrity can be so…absent in the minds of young people like this guy. How is it possible that by the age of 21 you’ve not had some sort of influence that demonstrates a modicum of empathy or ethics?

Maybe I need help
Arggggg I don’t feel smart lately. I am doing that thing where I look at other people’s smart stuff and feel like an absolute jackass. Doing nothing much important, forgetting my own impact, blah blah blah. Stupid brain, I’ve been killing braincells regularly since I was knee high to a grasshopper, but I can’t seem to kill them thar braincells that make me feel everything too much.
S’up with you all?
